ABOUT OLSH COLLEGE

OUR LADY OF THE SACRED HEART COLLEGE

is a Catholic secondary College for girls, founded in 1897 by the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, members of a religious congregation founded by Father Jules Chevalier in France in 1874. The College was moved to the present site in 1913 and until 1995 was administered by the Sisters. It is part of the system of schools under the auspices of the Catholic Education Office in the Sydney Archdiocese.

Father Jules Chevalier saw education as a means of reaching young people with the message of Christ's personal love for them. With Mary as the patron of the College, her title, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, reminds us that she leads all people to Jesus. Accordingly, OLSH College is A Community of the Heart Living and Learning Together .

COLLEGE CREST

Centrally featured in the College Crest is the Sacred Heart of Jesus, symbol of God's Love. The letters DN stand for "Domina Nostra", Latin for "Our Lady". Hence the title Our Lady of the Sacred Heart is incorporated in the symbolism. "Regnet Christus" is the Latin version of the College motto: "May Christ Reign", which is normally expressed as: "May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be Everywhere Loved".

The College colours are navy and gold.
